Kentucky Periodontics and Dental Implants
 



Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Parmley has spent the majority of his life in Kentucky; serving as a general dentist, periodontist and clinical educator.

In 1973, he graduated from the University of Kentucky, College of Dentistry.  He then practiced family dentistry for the next three years in Louisville.  During this time, he also served as a part-time Clinical Instructor at the University of Louisville, College of Dentistry, Department of Preventive Dentistry.

In 1976, he accepted a position at the University of Oklahoma, College of Dentistry as Assistant Professor in the Department of Operative Dentistry. During his three years in Oklahoma, he completed the requirements for a Master’s degree in Education from Central State University in Edmund, Oklahoma.  In the fall of 1979, he ended his tenure as Assistant Professor, and began a residency in Periodontics at the University of Kentucky.

He earned his Certificate of Training in Periodontics from the University of Kentucky in 1981, and has since been practicing Periodontics and Dental Implantology in Northern Kentucky.  He remains committed to education, and currently is a part-time Assistant Professor in the Periodontal Graduate Program at the University of Kentucky.  Dr. Parmley is the Director of the Northern Kentucky Study Club which he founded in 2000.  This club is a chapter of the national Seattle Study Club.   

Dr. Parmley is a member of all relevant professional organizations, and has served as President of the Kentucky Society of Periodontists and the Greater Cincinnati Society of Periodontists.

On a More Personal Note

Interestingly, prior to beginning his dental schooling, Dr. Parmley received a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and worked briefly as a Chemical Engineer.  This experience has been invaluable in creating a technologically advanced periodontal practice, and technology remains of significant personal interest.

Dr. Parmley was married in 1973 to Yvonne, a pharmacist.  They have two children: Carace and Travis, born in 1979 and 1984, respectively.  His son is a student at Northern Kentucky University and Carace is a resident in Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. 

In his free time, Dr. Parmley is a contract bridge player and enjoys road biking, walking and jogging.
